Mardi Fuller

White supremacy culture normalizes its own experiences, history, narratives and environmental ideology and keeps those operating out of its framework (and that can be any of us) from seeing beyond it. Mardi will take us on a journey through her life of adventures as a Black outdoorswoman who has grown in her liberation-focused identity. We’ll discuss barriers marginalized people face in accessing the outdoors and how exclusion, a form of oppression, is detrimental to all people.

Mardi Fuller is a hiker, backpacker, paddler and general outdoor enthusiast.  In 2008 she completed hiking New Hampshire's 48 mountains that are 4000 feet or higher, and this January she finally completed hiking each of these peaks in winter.  She lives in Boston where she works as a nonprofit communications director. Mardi is committed to personal and corporate Black liberation and believes deeply in nature's healing power.  Mardi’s writing and accomplishments have appeared in Outside magazine, the BBC, Melanin Basecamp, and NRDC.org.
